We're celebrating the one-year anniversary of the return of our popular online 50/50 fundraiser this September with a special thank you to the community: bonus tickets for September’s draw.
Over the past year, the 50/50 has awarded $86,505 in cash prizes to lucky winners from Stratford and area. Thanks to ticket purchasers, the fundraiser has also raised over $46,000, directly supporting the purchase of medical equipment for the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) - Stratford General Hospital.
This past year’s proceeds will help purchase a new point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) for the Critical Care Unit. POCUS brings advanced imaging directly to the bedside. Unlike traditional machines that require moving fragile patients, this portable technology allows doctors and nurses to see inside the body in real time, helping guide urgent procedures, monitor treatment, and make life-saving decisions within minutes. For patients and families, it means faster answers, less stress, and care delivered with precision, comfort and compassion.
“Having access to a point-of-care ultrasound in our Critical Care Unit will give clinicians a powerful tool right at the bedside, allowing them to make timely decisions in critical situations,” says Lynanne Mason, Vice President, Partnerships, Transformation & Chief Nursing Executive, HPHA. “This will directly enhance the care provided to some of our sickest patients and it would not have been possible without the generosity of our community through initiatives like the 50/50.”
To celebrate the milestone, we're offering bonus tickets in the September draw:
$20 package – receive 50 bonus tickets
$40 package – receive 100 bonus tickets
“We are so grateful for the way our community has embraced the 50/50,” says Cheryl Hunt, Executive Director, Stratford General Hospital Foundation. “Every ticket purchased not only gives someone the chance to win, but also helps bring life-saving tools like the point-of-care ultrasound to our hospital. Along the way, we’ve heard incredible stories from our winners. From Dr. Tony Read donating his prize back in memory of his father, to Melinda celebrating her family after her dad’s recovery, to Tara, one of our own hospital staff, who was thrilled to win while giving back to the place she works. These stories remind us that the 50/50 is about more than prizes, it’s about community.”
Looking ahead, a goal of raising $55,000 through the 50/50 fundraiser has been set for the coming year. Proceeds from upcoming 50/50 draws will help fund the purchase of a Neoprobe Gamma Detection System for the Surgical Services team, providing advanced technology to improve surgical precision and patient outcomes.
Tickets for the September anniversary draw are available now at www.sgh5050.ca and can also be purchased in person from the Foundation Office and Volunteers of Stratford General Hospital Coffee Shop, during regular hours.
