Paul Roulston

Paul Roulston, Stratford General Hospital Foundation Board member

Paul Roulston has served over 16 years on the Stratford General Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, from 2003–2008 and again from 2014 to present. A community pharmacist for 40 years, Paul was raised locally and has lived in Stratford since the late 1980s.

Healthcare has always been central to Paul’s life and family. His wife, Judy, worked as a registered nurse at the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) - Stratford General Hospital for more than 30 years. Together, they raised four children and are now proud grandparents to three grandchildren.

With decades of healthcare experience and a long history of service to the Foundation, Paul has seen firsthand the impact community support has on local care.

In the Q&A below, he shares what inspired him to join the Board, moments that have made him especially proud, and why advocating for the HPHA - Stratford General Hospital continues to matter.

What inspired you to join the Stratford General Hospital Foundation Board of Directors?

As a local healthcare professional, I’ve always felt it’s important to support others in their roles. Serving on the Stratford General Hospital Foundation Board allows me to give back to the hospital and community that so many people depend on.

Why is supporting local healthcare important to you?

I believe it’s essential to provide the highest level of healthcare close to home — both for residents and for the healthcare professionals who serve our community.

What excites you about the future of healthcare in our community?

I’m especially excited about the transition made possible through the recent In Our Hands Campaign and what it means for the future — from innovation to improved care for patients right here in Stratford.

Can you share a moment when you felt especially proud of the hospital or Foundation?

I felt especially proud when we cut the ribbon on the new Cancer and Medical Care Clinic and Pharmacy. It was incredibly fulfilling to be part of a project that progressed from concept to completion and now makes a meaningful difference for patients and families.

How do you see the hospital’s role beyond healthcare?

The HPHA - Stratford General Hospital provides exceptional care and is strongly supported by the community through the Foundation. It’s also a major local employer, and access to high-quality healthcare at every stage of life can be an important reason why other businesses and families choose to locate here.

If you could champion one future project for the hospital, what would it be?

I would like to see the continued development of mental health programs and services at the HPHA - Stratford General Hospital, as this is an area of growing need in our community.

What impact do you hope your service on the Board will have?

As a Co-Chair during the In Our Hands Campaign, I had the opportunity to share the story of the impact the HPHA - Stratford General Hospital has on our community. I look forward to continuing as an advocate for the hospital and the care it provides.
